OldGeorgeTown

ASIAN GLOBAL BUSINESS
was established in 1998 with a primary focus on niche real estate development in the northern region of the Malaysian Peninsula. It was not until 2004 when it ‘spotted’ George Town in Penang for such development.

AGB has a paid up capital of RM10 million with an authorized capital of RM25 million. We have offices in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.

Our principal business is property development and tourism via destination marketing and place branding. The development of distinctive residences with eclectic retail amenities includes giving our varied, mixed dvelopment projects an entirely new façade and personality but retaining their old world charm and quality, while conserving the city's historic fabric, as a UNESCO Heritage Site.

Like Charles Landry, author and urban futurest, we strongly believe that “the value added in cities is created less through what is manufactured, but more through intellectual capital applied to products, processes and services.” We totally recognize the need to appreciate values and identity in the process of rediscovering urban creativity.

Community Responsibility

...making urban environments liveable.

AGB builds according to a different drum beat. We recognise the unique characteristics that define an urban area and appreciate its past, its style and its artistry. These qualities and cultural assets will be hugely preserved as they make up the unique local flavor in the environment.

Old city centers are great places to promote the service industries. Since our concern is to bring urban blight and degradation to a halt and extend full conservation support, our new city plans will encourage economic growth and uphold community responsibility. This in turn prevents continued deterioration of old historical quarters; as property developer we aim to create environments that exudes confidence as a place to live and work while helping historic towns to revitalize.

The first project of its kind in Penang that has a significant
and sustainable role in the rejuvenation of George Town.

Our Vision & Mission

The AGB group is first and foremost committed to the conservation of historic resources and redefining new city lifestyles by tapping into new lines of creativity, taking old city centres to a whole new realm of energy.

Our mission is to revive old urban, waterfront centres with a difference. Putting in place new elements of city-life survival and processes of adaptation making them, once again, desirable places to live and be in.

Wealth creators in their time, these urban centres will shed their old look forever and spin in its place a ‘new prosperity’, akin to that of the early settlers and traders of Penang.

Educational Preparation

Tourism -- an important factor in urban center renewal for the revenue it brings -- will be kept on the AGB agenda throughout the duration of its project growth and development. We see the tourism-historic city as part of a whole.

George Town, Penang aims to be an imminent and eminent part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List – as recognition beyond the national realm of its urban buildings built in the 19th century and more…using its status as a destination marketing tool.

As a former trading post and English colony in the old world, Penang presents unrivalled stories of years past. Its port-city history is our wealth. The past decades have surfaced a need for new thinking, growth and rejuvenation. The ongoing trend worldwide to revive their historic downtown areas is now helping to make Georgetown ripe for new discovery as a place of culture, heritage and tourism appeal.

Bringing areas back into active use through the process of revitalization – is the dynamic aspiration of AGB, going beyond restoring run-down and abandoned buildings to their former glory. Having invested in research, AGB is ready is amass its people resources and make its contribution to the growth of heritage tourism.

For this reason, AGB is establishing Georgetown College - Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Studies on Penang Island as an initiative to focus on the educational preparation of people in the tourism, leisure, and hospitality industries.
